In this fast-paced, high energy environment where corporate communication is essential, how do we ensure all of our company's media and social responsibility is maintained and positively promoted? As a Public Relations Manager, you will assist the Director of Corporate Sponsorships and Partnerships by managing internal communications, issue management, Heart of Canal Street initiatives, and crisis communication.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Develop, implement, and manage all aspects of Potawatomi Casino Hotel's (PCH) external communications, media relations, and public affairs to protect the business's reputation.
  • Oversee all aspects of PCH's internal communications to support and advance business objectives and promote company culture.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing and hiring; training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
  • Serve as primary contact, media resource, and company spokesperson on all issues related to crisis communications and issue management.
  • Carry out management efforts to raise and distribute Heart of Canal Street funds to children's charities in Southeastern Wisconsin
  • Develop and maintain ongoing, interactive working relationships with PCH departments, Government Affairs Counsel to ensure that public relations initiatives are integrated into key business functions.
  • Build and maintain business relationships with local, regional, and national thirdparty ally organizations. Secure board, trade, and industry organization placements for PCH management.
  • Monitor emerging trends affecting the company and the gaming industry. Develop campaigns and initiatives to address developing and critical issues, including outreach efforts and media coverage.
  • Develop measurement tools to monitor effectiveness of external communication efforts.
  • Operate the department within budget.
  • Provide strategic external communications and public relations counsel and guidance to senior management, internal departments, Tribal leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish, update, and ensure full compliance with department Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or other equivalent field required.
  • Five (5) years demonstrated work experience in Communications, Public Relations, or other equivalent field required.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to demonstrate effective, highly developed writing skills.
  • The ability to use excellent communication skills to serve as an effective and articulate spokesperson to various media outlets through both written and oral mediums.
  • The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong influencing and relationshipmanagement skills. The ability to interact with stakeholders of all levels and understand the interests of multiple stakeholders and how those interests relate to Potawatomi Hotel & Casino (PH&C) and its goals.
  • The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member must be able to move freely throughout the property and operate a personal computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions
The noise level is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.
