Description
Position Summary:
The Quality Engineering Co-op will gain exposure to working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position will last 6 months. The co-op will be project based but will also include exposure to day-to-day quality engineering operations. Assist in developing and implementing production methods for manufacturing processes. The co-op may need to collaborate with multiple departments on planning work to ensure compliance with customer quality requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Review and interpret customer engineering, specifications, and configuration plans.
Support business process through interpretation of engineering documentation.
Ensures timely resolution/referral of user problems by understanding the impact to the user and by assigning an appropriate priority and resolution goal.
Gain an understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing methods, finishes, quality requirements, and assembly requirements.Assist with the verification and resolution of non-conforming products through RCCA.Assist with development of PFMEA, Gage R&R, and other Zero-Defect elements.
Completion of one Highlight project during co-op placement.This project will generally relate to continuous improvement within the department and will include a formal presentation at the end of the term.
Knowledge and Skills:
Technical writing skillsDesire to gain knowledge of general aircraft parts and component machining, assembly engineering structure, configuration management principles and processes.
Entry knowledge of computer aided design tools (CAD/CAM, Catia)Ability to manipulate data sets.Blueprint reading and interpretation.
Creative problem-solving skills with strong troubleshooting skillsMust be able to follow both written and verbal instruction.
Must be analytical and methodical in carrying out tasks and work assignments.
Detailed oriented
The candidate must have completed a minimum of 24 college credits, currently enrolled as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior level status at an accredited college or university in Engineering or related field of study.
At least 15 hours of completed engineering courses is preferred.Location Profile:
