Substance Abuse Counselor- Lmsw/ Lmhc - New York, United States - Realization Center

Description

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients struggling with substance use and abuse disorders
• Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans based on client needs
• Utilize evidencebased therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavior management, client centered
• Psychoeducation to clients on harm reduction as well as abstinence models of treatment
• Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and clinical counselors, and psychiatric staff to ensure comprehensive care for clients
• Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to overcome substance use and addiction
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
• Collect and maintain accurate records of client information and treatment progress
• Provide education and support to clients' families regarding addiction and recovery
• Stay uptodate with current research and best practices in addiction counseling
• Continue education requirements needed for renewals of licensure

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, counseling)

• Active licensure

• Experience in providing addiction counseling services
• Knowledge of various therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques for substance abuse treatment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Spanish speaking a+
• Electronic medical records (EMR) experience

Experience in the following is preferred:

• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• Person Centered Care
• Motivational Interviewing (MI)
• Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)
• Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
• Trauma Informed Therapy
• Harm Reduction

Pay:
$60, $80,000.00 per year
