Position Overview


The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Administrative Assistant I for the Mabley Developmental Center located in Dixon, Illinois to serve as the facility-wide Resident Safety Officer.

This position coordinates and facilitates the center Environment of Care Management Program by monitoring the physical environment for safety issues; assists in the planning, developing, and installing of agency programs and procedures:

direct and/or participates in studies to evaluate existing and proposed programs and recommends improved safety measures to Clinical Executive Staff.


Responsibilities:


  • Serves as the facility-wide Residential Safety Officer at the Mabley Developmental Center.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of each management plan and the Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Chairs the EoC Safety Committee and serves on related committees.
  • Directs and/or participates in studies to evaluate existing and proposed programs.
  • Participates in Critical Incident Reviews (CIRs) and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) as part of the Resident Safety Program, National Patient Safety Group (NPSG), and Culture of Safety.
  • Conducts and monitors in-service training to staff to verify services are delivered in a manner consistent with applicable standards and policies.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties listed above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to respond to emergencies after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday with 1 late night (12:30pm-9:00pm) per week and 1 weekend day per month
