Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office

The Institutional Giving Manager is an integral member of the institutional giving team in raising funds from institutional donors including foundations and government entities.

This position will build relationships with potential funders and partners, steward current donors and support grant management.

The Manager will identify, research, cultivate and solicit grants, write proposals and reports in collaboration with program staff, liaise with institutional donors and prospects in collaboration with the Deputy Vice President of Institutional Giving and other institutional giving staff.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engagement strategies designed to substantially increase support from existing funders and bring in new funders and partners.
  • Engage program staff to keep up to date on project plans and program strategy. Advise program staff on project design and program strategy from an institutional funding perspective.
  • Identify and schedule meetings with current and potential funders and attend/facilitate funder meetings with appropriate program staff. Review project plans and donor research, prepare briefing documents and ensure participating staff understand objectives for interactions with funders.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of institutional funders, delivering on all aspects of relationship management and funder engagement.
  • Conduct prospect research for priority programs, in collaboration with the global program team.
  • Track and manage portfolio funder deadlines, interactions, appropriateness, proposals submitted, likelihood of success, denied, awarded, report deadlines, etc. Gather research and background information; track and maintain key data and actions in appropriate systems; manage work plans and timelines; draft letters of inquiry, outlines and concept papers; develop notices of intent to apply; ensure grant reporting is done and compliant with funder requirements, in collaboration with finance and program staff.
  • Collaborate with relevant finance, legal and program staff to ensure compliance of portfolio funders with grant requirements in collaboration with Grants and Compliance Manager.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to meet funder communications requirements and advise from the institutional funding perspective including social media posts, website copy, and press releases.
  • Create highquality presentations, proposals and reports to donors/funders.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A degree from a fouryear college or university required, advanced degree preferred.
  • At least four years of experience with proposal development and relationship management.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced work environment within an international matrix organization.
  • Highly detail oriented, selfmotivated and excellent time management skills.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with external partners and program, finance and development staff within IFAW.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with fundraising database software desired.

Pay:
$80, $95,000.00 per year
