Electronics Development Engineer
Siemens Manufacturing Co., the Midwest region's premier manufacturer of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies, is experiencing growth in our business and is in need of an Electronics Development Engineer to join our Engineering group. We are a privately held business in our sixtieth year of service with manufacturing facilities located in Freeburg and New Athens, IL, approximately 20 minutes southeast of downtown St. Louis. The responsibilities of this position are primarily in New Athens.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a group of skilled Engineers and Technicians supporting all aspects of the company's contract manufacturing business. The primary responsibility of this position is the hardware and software design of production test equipment. The complexity of the test equipment is based on the Unit Under Test (UUT) and will range from simple interface modules, through microcontroller-based systems, to rack mounted PC-driven automated control / stimulus / measurement systems. Position responsibilities also include engineering analysis in support of customer technical questions and issue investigations, and system analysis / design for development of automated assembly equipment. This is a hands-on position that will guide all aspects of the project, including requirements definition, hardware/firmware design, mechanical design/fabrication, development of user documentation, and operator training/support.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Detailed testability analysis of customer designs including in-depth schematic analysis and determination of appropriate stimulus / measurement parameters to verify assembly integrity.
· Development of analog / digital electronics to interface to the UUT, provide the appropriate stimuli, measure the appropriate parameters, and report the result to the operator in a method that is robust enough for production floor implementation.
· Development of embedded microcontroller firmware using C or C++ to control the hardware and drive displays.
· Electronic circuit analysis in support of failure investigations and customer technical support.
Required Qualifications
· BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
· 4+ years of experience developing embedded firmware using C and C++.
· 4+ years of experience in analog / digital electronic hardware design.
· 4+ years of experience developing microcontroller-based embedded systems and driving electromechanical actuators.
Additional Helpful Skills
· Strong mechanical aptitude.
· Demonstrated ability to guide a multi-disciplinary development project.
· Experience developing software using C# for a Windows OS.
· Experience in the design of factory automation equipment including the use of PLCs, motor drives, and pneumatics to control complex electromechanical assemblies.
