GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for custodial duties at the District parks and facilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Minimum eighteen (18) years of age. Must have good communication and time management skills and be able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Attendance at work site as scheduled.
- Collect garbage and pickup litter in parks.
- Clean and maintain park restrooms.
- Report any concerns with the condition of parks such as vandalism or patrons behaving inappropriately.
- Wear personal protective equipment for job function when needed.
- Maintain effective twoway communication while dealing with concerns in the field with all district staff and immediate supervisor.
- Carry two way or cell phone communication at all times while working.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC.
Must have and maintain:
valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to:
continuously walk/move and position one's self to perform maintenance; occasionally climb stairs/ladder, repetitive use of hands/arms, vibration and grasping while working with tools and equipment, and move objects such as ladders, tools, equipment, etc.
weighing up to 50 lbs., and over 50 lbs. with assistance, eye/hand coordination, and fine manipulation; occasionally walk on uneven ground. Must be able to drive.ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to:
handle all weather conditions while traveling between facilities, frequently encounter rain, snow, insects, dirt, poisonous plants, grease, oil, mud; occasional confined spaces, heights over 12 feet, fumes, gases, odors, dust, mold, animal hair, dander, feces, noise over 85 dbls., wet, slippery floors and surfaces; rarely encounter pesticides, chemicals and smoke.
SALARY
$20.00 per hour
HOURS
Saturday and Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (during Sept-May time changes to 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
Opportunities for additional hours may be available.
