    Description

    Bullis School seeks an Upper School Chemistry Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community starting in the academic year. Candidates should have experience teaching science to a range of learners and value interdisciplinary thinking to guide students as they develop a deeper understanding of our interconnected world through the study of science. Responsibilities include teaching five classes, contributing to department initiatives, and advising. Additional opportunities to supervise after-school activities are based on need and interest. This is a 10-month position reporting to the Upper School Science Department Chair.

    The Bullis Upper School Science Department values collaboration and nurtures a culture of continuous growth and collegial support. Teachers keep current with current advances in science, teaching resources, pedagogy, and national objectives and have opportunities to collaboratively research and craft differentiated, engaging lessons for students. Science courses are taught in technology-rich laboratory classrooms in the school's newest building devoted to STEM and Entrepreneurship. Students engage in inquiry-based experimentation, keep records of laboratory work, and are authentically assessed on content and laboratory skills. Each year Bullis science teachers incorporate research, experimental design, and STEM projects in which students practice Bullis' core values while gaining a deeper understanding of the natural world around us.     Qualities of a Bullis Science Teacher :

    • An appreciation and respect for high school-aged students as learners and people through challenging and joyful moments alike

      • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, or related field (required)
      • Master's Degree in Chemistry, or related field (preferred)
      • Minimum of three years teaching experience in secondary education (preferred)
      • Teaching certificates are not required Search Process
