    Description

    Teaching Responsibilities :

    At The Benjamin School, we believe that good teachers set high standards for their students and then do everything they can to help them achieve those standards. We are looking for teachers who will support students as they become self-directed, independent learners with superior academic collegiate skills.

    The ideal candidate will be able to incorporate several teaching styles and use varied approaches to reach the students and make the material accessible. This person must have a desire to work with students in a challenging, college-preparatory environment and should possess strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

    Qualified candidates should demonstrate a passion for science, a love of teaching middle school students, intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, the ability to work within a team, skills to engage and inspire students in the pursuit of learning, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

    The person filling this position will coordinate interdisciplinary STEM initiatives and teach sections of 8th Grade Science, the specifics of which will depend on the individual talents that the candidate brings to Benjamin.

    General Professional Qualifications:

    The most desirable candidates will have the following background or comparable experience:

    • A bachelor's degree in science is required;
    • An advanced degree in science, STEM education, or engineering is preferred;
    • Minimum three years of teaching experience in a rigorous, college preparatory program at the Middle School level;
    • Strong background in chemistry, physics, computer science, and/or related sciences;
    • Experience in 3D printing, robotics, and integrating engineering principles into the curriculum;
    • Willingness to create a student-centered classroom;
    • Eagerness to work as part of a team;
