Program Director, Early Education and Care Center


Job Summary


The Program Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the Early Education and Care Center, which serves children ages 3 months - 5 years-old.

The Program Director is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming and responsive environment for children and families and fostering a supportive and collaborative culture amongst staff.


Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


  • Ensure that the classroom environments are safe, enriching and responsive to the unique needs of all children.
a. Support teaching teams in developing weekly curriculum plans, responding to the children's questions, ideas and interests.

b. Guide the assessment process and support teaching teams in using developmental information to inform curriculum planning.

c. Ensure that all classrooms honor NAEYC's Standards and Assessment Items.

d. Provide classroom coverage as needed.


  • Facilitate family partnerships, implementing family engagement strategies throughout the year.
a. Support teaching teams in using Bright wheel to provide regular classroom updates and engage in individualized outreach with families.

b. Support teaching teams in organizing Family Engagement Events three times per year.

c.

Partner with families accessing a Priority Populations slot to conduct a comprehensive family needs assessment, develop an Individualized Family Plan and coordinate quarterly meetings.

d. Serve as the liaison for the Department of Children and Families.


  • Ensure that teachers have access to a comprehensive system of supports that promotes high quality learning environments and professional growth.
a. Provide supervision to teachers, completing monthly observations/supervisory meetings and annual performance appraisals.

b. Facilitate Team Meetings, supporting the teachers in building evidence-based practices for promoting healthy social and emotional development.

c. Coordinate classroom scheduling, ensuring that strong staffing patterns are maintained at all times.

d. Coordinate monthly staff meetings and ensure that all required trainings are completed.


  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and adherence to the annual budget.
a. Responsible for EEC Center licensing, including ongoing policy and procedure updates.

b. Responsible for the Nutrition program, ensuring compliance with all regulations.

c. Responsible for classroom enrollment, ensuring that open slots are filled in a timely manner.

d. Oversee regular purchasing.


  • General Leadership, Supervision, and Organizational Membership*- Hires, trains, develops, supervises, and evaluates team members within the framework of MVCS policies and procedures and job descriptions, as applicable
  • Mines for resources to sustain existing projects and develop new ones. Participates in proposal conceptualization, development, and submittal, as appropriate or assigned
  • Encourages direct reports to engage in organizational activities, as applicable
  • Actively engages with Division Director on proactive and/or responsive basis with exceptional communication, followup, and transparency. Serves as key partner to the Division Director.

Qualifications:


  • Director I or Lead Teacher certification through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care
  • Five plus years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, teamoriented work environment
  • Compassionate, creative and energetic
  • Good physical and emotional health "fit to work" letter from physician required.
  • Able to supervise children visibly; climbing, bending, lifting (up to 40 lbs.) and moving quickly as needed

Pay:
$75, $90,000.00 per year
