(FSA), including Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) and the Advocacy Programs of Family Service Association (ADVO), the mission of our collective non-profit organizations since 1912 has been to help individuals and families in our Wisconsin and Minnesota communities achieve financial stability to improve their quality of life.

We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Operations to lead our team who is highly adaptable to change, committed to driving efficiency and accuracy throughout all of our operations, and who believes in our mission of improving the lives of our clients and their communities.
As Director of Operations, you will report to the Executive Director. You will have approximately 1 direct report and 4 indirect reports.


What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • An understanding of economic and credit systems, bondable with supervisory skills.
  • Previous accounting responsibility, preferably in a nonprofit setting, demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, restricted funding, government contracts, and audit procedures.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Must possess and exhibit high integrity, a positive attitude.
  • Two years business or agency experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Management, Finance, Social Work, or equivalent is preferred

Essential Functions, which include operations of both agencies:

  • Supervises and implements accounting procedures for our non-profit agencies.
  • Work with the Director of Counseling, Guardian Manager, Rep Payee Manager, Office Manager and the Executive Director as a leadership team to fulfill the agencies' missions.
  • Manage all People Operations, including compensation and benefits, staff development and wellbeing, compliance, and workplace safety.
  • Oversees audits from all reporting entities. Works with Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions & Minnesota Department of Commerce for audits of DMP program.
  • Assist in social media, advertising, and fundraising.
  • Work with the Executive Director in promoting a close relationship with the United Way and other funders in four area offices.
  • Handle telephone inquiries about various agency programs; promote agency and its various programs to community, church, or school groups.
  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Collect and report statistics for reporting purposes for both CCCS & ADVO.
  • Attending State, Regional, and National meetings, as required.

Work Location:

Primary Location: 1930 N 8th St. Sheboygan, WI 5308- Additional periodic travel to satellite offices or seminar or meeting locations, less than 10%

We are affiliated with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) and accredited through the Council of Accreditation. We are licensed, bonded and regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions and the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

We are a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved counseling agency and approved by the Executive Office of the United States Trustees to provide bankruptcy counseling and education programs.

We are a United Way Agency. We also provide representative payee services for both private-pay and court-directed clients. Our NFCC Certified Consumer Credit Counselors are required to take ongoing continuing education classes and attend regular training. In addition, our counseling staff have certifications in housing counseling, student loan counseling, foreclosure prevention, and loss mitigation.
