- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Monitor and assess workplace hazards and risks, and implement effective controls and safety measures to mitigate potential incidents.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company standards
- Monitor, interpret, and assess existing and emerging EHS laws, regulations, and regulatory policies at the state and federal levels, with a focus on California regulations such as CalOSHA and CA Title.
- Ensure timely updates to EHS programs and policies to address regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to effectively respond to threats, accidents, or incidents.
- Remain cool-headed and composed in the event of a threat or accident, leading response efforts and ensuring the safety of employees and the surrounding community.
- Provide leadership and guidance on EHS matters to employees at all levels of the organization, promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs to educate employees on best practices, regulatory requirements, and emergency response procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and quality assurance, to integrate EHS considerations into business processes and decision-making.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external stakeholders to represent the company's EHS interests and advocate for responsible practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a demonstrated ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in EHS management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
