Job Title:

E-Sports Head Coach


Job Summary:


The Head Coach is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.


Qualifications:

ISBE teaching certificate or ASEP certification

IHSA concussion and PED test completed

CPR/AED Certified

Valid Driver's License


Evaluation:

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation.


Reports to:

Athletic Director


Terms of Employment:

This is a yearly stipend position at Code 1. The term may be extended annually pending the review of school needs and the evaluation process.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies) and procedures.
  • Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
  • Assesses the players' strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develops an efficient practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide individual and team development.
  • Works with the athletic director to schedule facilities for practices and competitions.
  • Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary.
  • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the sport's rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.
  • Observes players during competition and practice to determine the need for individual or team improvement. Creates a plan to improve weaknesses.
  • Determines the game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.
  • Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
  • Encourages studentathletes to maintain high academic standing.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians.
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
  • Models good sportsmanship and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Sanitizes and cleans equipment.
  • Participates in special activities, including parent nights, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Institutes a plan to create feeder programs/offseason activities to ensure continued program success.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Inspects facilities and athletic fields for health and safety concerns.
  • Chaperones and supervises athletic events as needed.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the athletic director or another appropriate administrator.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb stairs, ropes, or ladders.

Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.

The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation.
