    Description
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Coordinates sanitation activities in all areas of the creameryServes as an example for Team Members in all areas of performance, including attendance.

    Ensures team members are following and personally comply with all company policies, procedures, and programs, including Safety, Quality, HACCP and GMP's.

    Accountable to Total Sanitation Time in order to meet production plans and Plant start-up.
    Establishes, authors, reviews, and updates sanitation work instructions and ensures consistent and proper procedures are followed.

    Trains Team Members on proper sanitation processes and procedures, including but not limited to:
    CIP systems, manual cleaning and sanitation equipment functioning and troubleshooting.
    Operates, monitors, and maintains CIP systems throughout the plant.
    Performs equipment and CIP system inspections. Devises action plans, takes necessary corrective action, and follows up within a timely fashion.

    Assists with the cleaning of all related cheese make, intake, whey plant and related equipment and facilities according to the master sanitation schedule.


    This includes but is not limited to:
    vats, tables, fines saver, block-forming towers, RO, Polisher, Separators, HTST, Tanks, and Silos.
    Performs testing, interprets and records results for sanitation validation.
    ATP testing, post Sanitation SwabbingMaintains chemical inventory and places requisitions for sanitation chemicals and supplies.
    Works closely with chemical vendors to ensure proper sanitation, monitoring, and maintenance of chemical equipment.
    Maintains, monitors, and documents master cleaning schedules and gasket changing programs across the Facility.
    Maintains proper documentation of sanitation activity, as well as filing this documentation.
    Coordinates, monitors, and assigns manufacturing plant environment sanitation.
    Coordinates with the Maintenance team for repair of sanitation and cheese making equipment.
    Collaborates with the Manufacturing Team and ensures team members are meeting expectations regarding compliance to all product specifications.
    Completes and verifies all documentation associated with essential job functions.
    Communicates sanitation challenges and Sanitation changes with Team members and ensures completion of Sanitation schedule.
    Communicates schedule changes and/or schedule opportunities to production Supervisor.
    Leads and implements Safety, Quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    Participate as a member of HACCP, Food Defense and Safety teams.
    Optimizes manual and CIP sanitation to minimize chemical and water use.
    Assists in analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving sanitation issues.
    Serves as backup for Production supervisors.
    Provides support and is trained in other production areas as needed.
    Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individuals authorized to initiate action.


    Backup Provision:

    In the absence of the Sanitation Coordinator, the Production Supervisor will fulfill the food safety responsibilities of the Sanitation Coordinator.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school degree or equivalent (GED), required.
    Associate degree, preferred.2-3 years' experience in sanitation and/or food manufacturing. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly exposed to a variety of weather conditions including outside weather, extreme, non-weather-related heat and extreme, non-weather-related cold.

    Furthermore, the Team Member will regularly work in confined and/or restrictive work areas and work with hazards which include moving mechanical parts on pumps or valves.

    They will also work with and handle chemicals as a part of this job. Ear protection is required.
    Flexibility in Scheduling dependent on Sanitation Schedule. Occasional overtime may be required. Weekend Coverage required based on Plant Weekend Coverage Schedule.

    TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDWhile performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work witha computer, calculator, fax, copier, chemical testing kits, thermometer, recording charts, CIP systems, pH meter, utensils, steam hose/water mixer and scale.

    safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection

    Other recommended PPE includes:
    face shield, chemical resistant apron and steel toe shoes.
