Have you ever thought about becoming a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), also known as a Forensic Nurse?

Would you like the opportunity to do 1 on 1 care with victims that have been sexually assaulted?

Do you like to work independently?

• What is required? A nursing degree (ADN, BSN, MSN or NP). At least 1 year of clinical experience.

* will attend either an online or in person 64 hour Adult/Adolescent/Pediatric SANE course. You will also have approximately 3-6 mths of on the job training.

• The program at Froedtert hires pool nurses (OPT), many of whom have other primary jobs within staff the program with 20+ nurses that commit to covering a minimum of 24 hours on-call hours each month. If you are called in during that shift, you are the sole provider for the patient and their sexual assault care.
• We respond to all 7 Froedtert emergency sites: Froedtert Main Campus, Froedtert-Menomonee Falls, Froedtert=West Bend, & our 4 community hospital sites: Mequon, Oak Creek, Pewaukee and New Berlin. We serve a very diverse population of mostly adults and teens.
• Forensic Nurses work closely with many disciplines such as law enforcement, social workers, community advocates and many more.

Job Summary:

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner will demonstrate clinical competence in the collection of forensic evidence, in addition to the care, treatment, and referral of those impacted by interpersonal violence.

Demonstrates the ability to provide expert testimony in a court of law. Participate in wellness and prevention community activities. Provides a comforting, safe, and healing environment for patients and their families.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment.


EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.

Upon hire any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be required to enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program.

Acceptance into a program is expected within 15 months of hire and the degree program must be completed within 5 years of enrollment, or 6 years if program is MSN, DNP or PhD in Nursing.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.


LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
