Pool Director

Reports to:
Fitness Director, Fitness Coordinator

Supervises:
Swimming Instructors; Lifeguards; Pool Rental Clients

Schedule:
Shift varies, Full-time 40 hrs. exempt

Education and/or Experience

One year experience as an Assistant Pool Manager at a club of comparable size and stature
Competitive swimming experience as either a coach or athlete
Lifeguard certified
Experience teaching swim lessons, both adult and children

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

Broad knowledge and experience in pool operation and management
Knowledge of pool safety programs and risk management
Thoroughly understands specific state and local laws and statutes regarding pool safety and inspections
Knowledge of and ability to perform personal role in emergency situations

Job Summary

Fulltime, salaried position, offering Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, Health Savings Plan, 401(K), Paid-TimeOff and additional incentives based on revenue
Responsible for driving pool revenue
Responsible for communicating and managing all lap swim availability
Handles the scheduling of all swimming instruction, family swims, pool birthday parties, pool rentals and lifeguards
Supervises and maintains a safe, clean and appealing swim facility
Reports all financial swim metrics on a weekly/monthly basis to Fitness Director and Fitness Coordinator

Job Tasks/Duties

Maintains and creates files for all proper certifications and training for J Fitness pool staff and pool rental clients
Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates swim instructors and lifeguards
Responsible for enforcing pool rules for all participants
Holds monthly meeting with swim instructors to discuss progress of students currently enrolled
Formulates quarterly work schedules and rotation schedules for all pool employees
Maintains and inventories all pool equipment
Responsible for registering all swim lesson participants
Responsible for collecting all fees related to swim activities
Provides necessary orientation and training for pool staff
Enforces facility rules for safety and conduct
Plans and directs special events
Creates swim programming
Organizes and schedules all swim lessons, as well as all other pool related activities
Represents the facility in activities as required
Schedule and manage all evaluations prior to lessons
Manages all end of lesson certificates/rewards for each participant
Report weekly payroll to Fitness Director and Fitness Coordinator
Maintains and stores all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool financials, incident reports, lifeguard and instructor schedules, etc.
Responsible for weekly social media posts promoting J Fitness swim programming
Develops and implements pool safety programming for J Fitness staff and rental clients
Monthly marketing meeting with Fitness Director and Fitness Coordinator
Interacts with outside contractor regarding pool chemical maintenance
Provides aquaticsrelated information for facility eblasts
Manages pool area for cleanliness
Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Fitness Director or Fitness Coordinator
Creates monthly pool calendar for staff and members
Creates J Fitness swim programming
Meets with Fitness Director and Fitness Coordinator weekly
Manages and reports all prospects/leads
Instruct 5 hours of swim lessons per week
Lead quarterly pool staff training

Licenses and Special Requirements

Must have current ARC Lifeguard Certification
WSI Swimming Instructor Certification desirable
American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current American Red Cross CPR card

**Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment, which is typical of this position.
