Counsel for New York State Senate Republican Conference

Duties Description
The New York State Senate Republican Conference is seeking applicants to fill the position of Counsel.

Counsel will work as part of a team on behalf of the Senate Republican Leader, Senators, and relevant central and member staff to research and review legislation, policy proposals, and laws.

Essential Functions

• Providing legal, policy and budget analysis for the Senate Republican Conference;
• Tracking committees and legislation active in the state Senate and state Assembly;
• Conducting legal and policyrelated research;
• Preparing materials and briefing Senators and staff on legislation, policy initiatives, and regulatory changes;
• Assisting Senators in preparation for public hearings, roundtable discussions, forums and other public meetings and events;
• Working with Albany and statewide staff to assist Senators in drafting and analyzing legislation and policy;
• Meeting with and building relationships with relevant stakeholders, advocacy, and constituency groups; and
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Salary range:
$80,000 - $90,000. Compensation will be determined by educational experience and professional experience.
