Responsibilities

  • Perform onair live reporting for all NBC 4 platforms and contribute to breaking and lead stories.
  • Write and post stories to digital platforms, ensuring editorial accuracy and compliance with NBC 4 legal standards.
  • Collaborate with managers and producers to conceptualize and produce news packages based on breaking news or assigned stories.
  • Generate enterprise, communitydriven story ideas showcasing Southern California's diversity.
  • Develop and maintain a network of news sources across communities, organizations, and social media platforms for exclusive stories.
  • Track story developments, and communicate progress to the assignment desk and managers.
  • Articulate viewpoints and experiences in a manner that helps the audience feel a personal connection with the content.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment with excellent time management skills, prioritizing and multitasking under shifting deadlines.
  • Participate in stationsponsored events and assigned special promotions projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years as a TV reporter in a top 30 market.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in various onair reporting functions (anchoring, investigations, franchises, etc.).
  • Strong ability to adlib effortlessly, especially in breaking news situations.
  • Understanding of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, libel laws, slander, and FCC rules.
  • Proven problemsolving and prioritization skills in highpressure, breaking news environments.
  • Effective selfstarter with a track record of generating and producing original news stories.
  • Familiarity with emerging news production techniques and technology, with a desire to learn and innovate.
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, visual storytelling, and live reporting.
  • Ability to perform nonlinear editing and shooting workflow.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly desired.
  • MMJ experience (Multimedia Journalism), including the ability to shoot, edit, and produce video content independently, is highly desirable.
  • Strong news judgment and research skills for identifying compelling stories.
  • Good collaborative and interpersonal skills for effective communication at all levels within the team.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
  • Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends with short notice
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
  • Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

Salary range:
$102,000 - $160,000 DOE.
