MISSION IMPACT TEAM


The Anti-Cruelty Society's Mission Impact Team is building a community of caring by meaningfully engaging people and their pets both within and beyond the walls of our organization.

Whether it's facilitating adoption matches, equipping fosters and volunteers, responding to community pet needs, or inspiring the next generation of animal advocates, the Impact Team is helping to make The Anti-Cruelty Society the most welcoming and supportive shelter in Chicago.

***The Adoption Welcome Team works with Adoption Experience staff to create a culture of caring within the adoption center and elevate the entire guest experience. Whether an adopter, volunteer, shopper, donor, or visitor, the Welcome Team provides customized care to make a positive impression on each and every Society guest. Welcome Team members engage the public in a variety of ways, including greeting guests in the lobby, supporting Adoption Experience Guide processes, facilitating foster and rescue animal pick-ups, spot-cleaning public spaces, capturing adoption photos, and providing support to donors and Society Store patrons. The Adoption Welcome Team staff report to the Adoption Experience management team.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Provide compassionate, professional guidance to everyone we engage with
  • Understand organizational philosophies, policies, and procedures
  • Answer incoming calls and address caller needs and concerns
  • Assist with adoption center prep: spot clean, disinfect and prep courtyard, restock adoption supplies, assemble adopter kits, print kennel signage, update animal records.
  • Support Adoption Guides throughout the adoption process: collect adoption fees, issue contracts, assign rabies tags, engrave personalized ID tags, and sell pet care supplies
  • Follow opening and closing procedures and maintain records to ensure accurate cash, credit, and check handling
  • Monitor adoption center tidiness, signage, and safety
  • Other key responsibilities include: data entry, filing, store sales, digital adopter survey distribution, laundry support, donation processing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one year of customer service and cashier experience preferred.
  • Animal handling experience preferred
  • Note: A comparable combination of education, experience or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skills and ability required may qualify an individual

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Ability to handle work with and around companion animals
  • Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time Ability to and bend, stoop and reach as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to push a 50 pound loaded cart up a ramp approximately one hundred and fifty feet long at a six percent grade

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Available to travel to Everyday Adoption Center and satellite adoption sites, work an extended schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings and holidays according to job demands.

Ability to accommodate adjusted schedule to cover EAC or Adoption Center hours.
