VulcanForms Inc. seeks an Electro-Mechanical Machine Build Technician for our Devens, MA, location.

Job Purpose


As an
Electro-Mechanical
Machine Build Technician at VulcanForms Inc.,
Devens, MA, you will have the unique opportunity to work on industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines.

VulcanForms Inc. is a manufacturer of complex, high value engineered components in serial production at the world's most powerful additive foundry.

Responsibilities include mechanical assembly, electrical panel wiring, field wiring, troubleshooting, and industrial automated equipment machine integration. This position operates in an assembly shop floor environment. Employees in this role are potentially exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud environments.


Please note that the Machine Build Technician position is shift-based: the 1st shift runs from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; the 2nd shift runs from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm; the 3rd shift runs from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am.


Key Accountabilities

  • Interface with project team (i.e., Lead Engineers, Project Manager, Mechanical Engineers, Controls Engineer, Assemblers).
  • Troubleshoot and debug (i.e., diagnoses trouble or defects, determine corrective action, and repair the system).
  • Assemble equipment.
  • Provide status updates to management on assigned projects.
  • Comply with the company's safety procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems (High/Low/AC/DC voltage), diagnose faults and perform repairs to restore functionality/minimize downtime.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Receive, review and redline electrical system documentation (schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals, etc.)
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses and fixtures, using hand and power tools

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of jobrelated experience, preferably in a machinebuilding department, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Experience with electromechanical and pneumatics assemblies
  • Experience in more than one of the following areas: High voltage circuits, Low voltage circuits, Panel assembly, cable assembly, electrical schematics, electronic testing
  • Experience producing electromechanical assemblies using small hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers

Preferred

  • 2+ years of experience building automated equipment
  • Ability to read/understand mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics
  • High precision, close tolerance proficiency
  • Ability to use all hand tools
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment (e.g., mill machine, drill press, lathe, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in electromechanical systems
  • Aware of design tools and techniques
