Job Summary
The Post-Harvest Manager is responsible for overseeing all post-harvest activities, including trimming, curing, and drying. The Post-Harvest Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and compliance of post-harvest operations.

This position will lead a team of technicians, develops and implements standard operating procedures and maintains adherence to regulatory standards.

The role is instrumental in maintaining product integrity, maximizing yields, and achieving production targets.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of harvest crews on physical takedown of flower rooms.
  • Continue to dial harvest metrics data collection and reports.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows for trimming, curing, drying, and tagging of cannabis products, optimizing productivity and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor postharvest activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including proper tagging, tracking, and reporting of cannabis products.
  • Oversee the trimming process, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to trimming standards and specifications.
  • Manage curing and drying processes to preserve product integrity, optimize cannabinoid profiles, and minimize moisture content.
  • Coordinate processing activities such as weighing and tagging of cannabis products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labeling regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of postharvest facilities and equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
  • Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to address any issues or inefficiencies in postharvest operations.
  • Communicate effectively with Cultivation Manager and other departmental leaders to provide updates on postharvest progress, discuss challenges, and implement solutions.
  • Attend management meetings as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records of postharvest activities, including production quantities, yields, and any deviations from standard procedures.
  • Manage dry room hanging at each harvest and assist on Dry Room Turns as needed.
  • Monitor harvest schedule and prepare for Room Turn accordingly and make adjustments to meet production demand.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments involved in room turn procedures.
  • Train and coach postharvest technicians on proper techniques, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
  • Help Post-Harvest Manager oversee all active dry rooms, with regards to environmental controls and readiness of product.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Coordinate with postharvest representative throughout the day regarding agenda/progress.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support the overall success of the cultivation operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in cannabis cultivation or related field required, with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards in a fastpaced production environment.
  • Knowledge of cannabis strains, anatomy, and harvesting techniques.
  • Familiarity with harvesting equipment and tools, including scissors, trimming machines, and sanitation supplies.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for cannabis harvesting and handling.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet production demands.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check as required by state regulations.

Work Environment

  • Postharvest Managers work primarily in indoor cultivation facilities where they are exposed to various environmental conditions associated with plant cultivation and harvest.
  • May be exposed to elevated temperatures, high humidity, and artificial lighting for extended periods.
  • Use of fertilizers, nutrients and pest management solutions may expose employee to chemicals and organic substances. Proper safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), are essential to minimize exposure risks.
  • May be exposed to moderate to high level of noise as Cultivation facilities may contain equipment such as fans, pumps, and ventilation systems.

  • Work revolves around objectives, projects, and priorities, not hours; must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
