Summary:
This role involves close collaboration with various departments - Production, Tooling, Maintenance, Shipping, and Packing - to ensure adherence to product quality standards and meet production/delivery timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Operates Lab Equipment: Proficient in handling a range of laboratory equipment, from CNC sample preparation to tensile testing and, where applicable, OES spectrometry.
- Becomes Testing Process Expert: Develops a deep understanding of tensile testing mechanics and other lab tests, aiming to grasp the metallurgical aspects of the process.
- Interprets Customer Testing Requirements: Capable of distinguishing testing variations between industries and specific customers, raising flags for any non-compliance issues.
- Maintains Lab Equipment: Engages in all necessary PM activities and promptly reports performance issues to the Lab Supervisor.
- Compliance Reporting: Ensures 100% compliance with new data management and control standards, immediately reporting any identified compliance issues.
- Leads Product Dispositioning: Coordinates decision-making for production go/no-go outcomes in case of nonconformances.
- Supports Quality Engineering: Assists quality engineers in daily tasks like trial coverage, data collection, analysis, and product inspection.
Job Requirements:
- Requires keen visual acuity for activities such as data analysis, transcribing, computer use, extensive reading, small defect identification, and machine operation; as well as the ability to handle small parts, inspect visually, use measurement tools, and assemble/fabricate parts at close range.
- May need to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and mathematics.
- Familiarity with measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, taper gauges, height gauges).
- Ability to read blueprints for parts.
