    Looking for an exciting opportunity to innovate the design of commercial building systems? Schnackel Engineers is a cutting-edge firm with a progressive software development department that is looking for full-time and part-time C# or Java experts to join our growing software/algorithms team.

    Our AI-based engineering software system is revolutionizing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering process, resulting in buildings being designed automatically and conflict-free. This process enables buildings to be built faster, at a substantially reduced construction cost, and with long-term operating costs and carbon footprint savings. Our approach offers more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable building designs than are possible with conventional engineering methods.

    We pride ourselves on finding optimized solutions to the engineered systems in order to minimize initial cost, reduce construction waste, minimize carbon input, and minimize the time it takes for the engineers to design a commercial building.

    The ideal candidate will have a history of solving scientific or technical challenges in 3D while delivering working software to customers. Much of our codebase involves performing floating point math and manipulating data structures. The candidate will be expected to design efficient algorithms and later implement those same algorithms in C#.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Expert-level programming skills in either C# or Java: The ideal candidate should be highly proficient in either C# or Java and able to write efficient and effective code with minimal supervision.
    • Object-Oriented Analysis and Design: The candidate should have a strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), including design patterns, object-oriented programming concepts, and software architecture principles.
    • Strong understanding of computer science principles (data structures, algorithms, complexity, threading, operating systems): The candidate should possess a solid foundation in computer science principles such as data structures, algorithms, algorithmic complexity, threading, and operating systems.
    • Solid math skills, including a background in linear algebra: The candidate should have strong math skills, including proficiency in linear algebra, which is commonly used in computer graphics and machine learning.
    • Clean programming style and efficient physical structure of programs: The candidate should be able to demonstrate a clean programming style and an efficient physical structure of programs, including good coding practices, clear and concise comments, and well-organized code.

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    • C# generics, Java generics, .NET or Win32 API knowledge: Knowledge of C# generics, Java generics, .NET, or Win32 API is desirable for this position.
    • Microsoft Visual Studio: Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, a popular integrated development environment (IDE), is a plus.
    • Computational Geometry: Experience with computational geometry, which involves the study of algorithms and data structures used to solve geometric problems, is desirable for this position.
    • CAD, 3D modeling, GIS, or other spatial modeling work: Knowledge or experience with computer-aided design (CAD), 3D modeling, geographic information systems (GIS), or other spatial modeling work is desirable.
