You will be working with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illnesses as well as substance abuse issues.

These individuals come to us from jail and are with us in lieu of being in jail or the state hospital.

The emphasis of this position is mentorship. In your role, you provide daily structure and guidance with care for clients. We want to provide support and care while showing a clients a different path in life.

This position is truly the most valuable position we have. The Mental Health Worker's role is to manage the movement of the house daily. That means to make sure clients are programming, cleaning themselves, cleaning their areas, and cleaning the house. This is done through modeling and teaching. Relationships are the foundation and the key to this position. This position will help members resolve conflicts between each other, model healthy communication, avoid power struggles.

You will set healthy boundaries and expectations and deescalate angry and frustrated members. You will coach and model independent living skills such as cleaning, personal hygiene, and time management.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses
  • Assist in crisis management and deescalation techniques
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Collect and document data on client progress and behaviors
  • Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
  • Monitor and record vital signs of clients
  • Provide care and support for individuals with severe mental illnesses
  • Perform crisis intervention as needed
  • Assist in addiction counseling and support services
  • Implement applied behavior analysis techniques as appropriate

Experience:


  • Previous experience working in a behavioral/mental health setting is preferred
  • Familiarity with data collection methods and documentation practices
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures and protocols
  • Proficiency in monitoring and recording vital signs accurately
  • Understanding of PTSD care and traumainformed approaches
  • Ability to effectively perform crisis intervention techniques
  • Knowledge of addiction counseling principles and techniques
  • Familiarity with applied behavior analysis concepts
  • Participate/assist in supporting members during group outings and completing chores.

Judgement, Decision Making, Initiative:

  • Follow and explain policies and procedures to members and family (if needed).
  • Promote and support members in developing self-help and independent living skills. *Informing team when attention is required.
  • Reach out to Clinical Director/Clinician, Case Manager, and nurse when issue is beyond your scope or requires teammate intervention.
