What You'll Do:
The Safety (EHS) Specialist becomes the workplace superhero, keeping everything safe, healthy and incident-free From designing awesome training sessions to busting out the forklift moves, they're the safety champions who make sure everyone's protected and having a blast while they're at it.
The Safety (EHS) Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day safety duties and programs to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Directs the environmental, health, and safety programs for the site
- Collaborates with the operations team to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs
- Creates, maintains, and enforces policies, processes, and regulations
- Leads incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of safety incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrence
- Leads Safety Committee and maintains meeting minutes and objectives
- Develops and conducts employee training on applicable safety standards utilizing inperson, online, and learning management systems
- Creates safety communications, including regular safety posts, communication screen topics, toolbox talks, and other safety reminders
- Coordinates and conducts inspections, audits, and assessments for safety performance and compliance
- Assists with tracking and reporting claims to the insurance carrier
- Maintains OSHA, DNR, and other legal recordkeeping and requirements
- Partners with Human Resources to coordinate returntowork and lightduty assignments for employees with restrictions
- Ensures accurate preparation of safety reporting and metrics including compiling, maintaining, analyzing, and presenting data
- Performs ergonomic and safety assessments
- Champions a culture of safety excellence by fostering open communication, promoting safety awareness, and recognizing and rewarding safety achievements
- Will perform additional responsibilities when required
Requirements:
What You'll Bring:
- BA/BS in Safety, Environmental Health & safety field and/or equivalent years of experience
- 13 years experience in a safety or environmental health and safety role required
- Basic worker's compensation and insurance (property & casualty, equipment) knowledge
- Understanding of behaviorbased safety principles
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
- Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fastpaced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and colleagues
- May be required to flex hours to support all areas of the business
- A high degree of initiative, selfmotivation, and ability to motivate others
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleagues
- Comfortable with office pets (cats, dogs)
Not Required but Nice to Have
- Experience in manufacturing and distribution environments
- Experience with 5S and other Lean tools
