JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.

The incumbent will be responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes by implementing critical pathways and in accordance with the facility's mission, vision, and values.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment.
  • Observes the surgery and surgical team from a broad perspective and assists the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.
  • Responsible for managing the nursing care of the patient within the OR and coordinating the needs of the surgical team with other care providers.
  • Provides preop, intraop, and postop care, including assessment and discharge instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BSN Required
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Current Texas RN License
  • 2+ YRS experience as a Critical Care staff Registered Nurse required.
  • 25 YRS PRE-OP/POST-OP, PACU RN Experience
  • Current Recent experience observing and treating patients after surgery, i.e., monitoring vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate.

EDUCATION

  • ADN, BSN Required
  • Master's Degree preferred
    .

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE

  • Current Texas RN License
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) 90 days after Date of Hire
  • BLS, CPR, ACLS, PALS required. Current BLS at time of hire

KNOWLEDGE SKILS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Be able to carry out the plan of care by performing/assigning delegated tasks.
  • Complete nursing assessments within required time frames, and in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Identify and act on predictable needs of the patient.
  • Ability to meet the health care needs of patient by assessing and assisting the patient to meet expressed need
