Overview:


The
Assistant General Manager is responsible for assisting the General Manager with the efficient, professional and profitable operation of the venue.

The Assistant General Manager aids the General Manager in overseeing every managerial, f/t and p/t position, and ensuring full compliance with state and federal labor laws, contractual obligations, and other duties as assigned.

The Assistant General Manager will actively supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train and mentor employees in meeting company quality standards, and will independently initiate and authorize all employment actions such as hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, and promotion.

The Assistant General Manager will actively and independently manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant and cooperative work environment.

This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business.

The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule, which includes evenings and weekends.

Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction and strong management and independent decision-making skills are required.


About the Venue:
The Rhode Island Convention Center (RICC) is located in the heart of Providence's downtown.

The RICC features 100,000 square feet of flexible exhibit space and an additional 67,000 square feet of ballroom, breakout and meeting spaces.

Capable of hosting trade shows, consumer shows, exhibits, receptions, banquets, meetings, tournaments and competitions, and, of course, conventions, event planners will enjoy a collaborative partnership with our knowledgeable and professional staff.

The RICC is connected to the Amica Mutual Pavilion and the 564-room Omni Providence Hotel, and in turn, Providence Place, a downtown shopping destination filled with big-name retailers and an assortment of dining and entertainment options.

Known to locals as "The AMP PVD," the 14,000-seat Amica Mutual Pavilion (formerly the Dunkin' Donuts Center) is home to the AHL Providence Bruins and the Big East Providence College Friars.

The arena hosts sporting events, major concerts, family shows and trade shows.

This role will pay a salary of $120,000 to $150,000.

Responsibilities:


  • Supports GM with active contact with Contract Administrator/Clients, Community Stakeholders and monitors OVG's compliance with all provisions of the management contract.
  • Aggressively promotes the use of the facility with the local destination sales and marketing organization to maximize the facilities utilization with high impact events.
  • Negotiates contractual agreements as determined necessary and in the best interests of the facility.
  • Negotiates lease agreements with meeting planners, third party organizations, event organizers, and promotors.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Contract Administrator/Client, facility users, government departments and agencies, convention/live event industry decision makers, and community and civic organizations to encourage continual and regular use of the facility.
  • Coordinates facility involvement and event hosting with Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as other appropriate destination marketing agencies.
  • Assures the coordination, implementation and administration of specific policies and procedures prescribed by OVG corporate directives, to include: matters of training and development; quality assurance; energy efficiency; safety/emergency procedures, crowd control, crisis management procedures, or other areas as needed.
  • Develops and implements facility goals in accordance with the management contract, the client's objectives, corporate policy, and good business practices.
  • Prepares and maintains required and necessary reports/records for the Contract Administrator / Client and the OVG Corporate Office.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs all activities and personnel engaged in maintaining and operating the facility.
  • Assists and coordinates with the development of the annual operating calendar, activity schedules, and projections for the attendance and/or revenue.
  • Conducts leadership and staff meetings on a consistent basis.
  • Directs the development and administers the execution of operating and marketing
