    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

    At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially

    acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of

    accomplishment as a student-athlete.

    Millwood Athletics has been a strong influence on the community's image, and prides itself in maintaining a level that represents our entire organization.

    Public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health.



    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Supporting the Head Coach:
    Assisting the head coach in implementing their strategies, game plans, and overall vision for the team.


    Specialized Coaching:
    Focusing on specific aspects of the game such as offense, defense, special teams, or individual player positions.


    Player Development:
    Helping players improve their skills, techniques, and understanding of the game through individualized coaching sessions and drills.


    Scouting and Analysis:

    Assisting with scouting opponents, analyzing game film, and providing insights to the coaching staff to develop game plans and adjustments.



    In-Game Assistance:
    Providing feedback to the head coach during games, suggesting substitutions, play calls, and adjustments based on game situations.


    Mentorship and Support:

    Serving as a mentor and confidant for players, offering guidance, encouragement, and support both on and off the field.



    Recruiting:

    Assisting with the recruitment of potential players by evaluating talent, attending recruiting events, and building relationships with prospects and their families.



    Administrative Tasks:

    Helping with administrative duties such as scheduling practices, organizing travel arrangements, and ensuring compliance with league rules and regulations.



    Liaison with Support Staff:

    Collaborating with other members of the coaching staff, including athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and academic advisors, to support the holistic development of student-athletes.



    Role Model:
    Demonstrating professionalism, sportsmanship, and integrity in all interactions with players, staff, and the broader community.

    Overall, the assistant coach plays a vital role in supporting the head coach and contributing to the team's success through specialized coaching, player development, and administrative support.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Millwood Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
    • Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements the same consistently and interprets them for staff.
    • Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all staff and departmental meetings that require attendance.
