Position Summary:


This is an entry level position that would be a good opportunity for student looking into physcial therapy as a career.

Joining Orlando Health as a wholly owned hospital in 2020, the conveniently located Orlando

Health Saint Cloud Hospital is an 84-bed full-service medical and surgical facility serving the

residents of St. Cloud and the surrounding Osceola County communities for more than 55 years.

The hospital offers numerous specialties, including diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular

diagnostics and treatment, orthopedics and surgical services. Recognized as a Primary Stroke

Center, a 24-hour Emergency Department treats children and adults, including a designated

geriatric section for specialized emergency care. Orlando Health St. Cloud offers a range of

outpatient services, including surgery, rehabilitation and a Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center

with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. With the adjacent Orlando Health Medical Pavilion — housing

primary care and specialty physician practices, laboratory services and a walk-in clinic — the

Orlando Health St. Cloud campus is a convenient healthcare destination for comprehensive,

coordinated care.


Responsibilities:

Performs designated routine patient ambulation/mobility who work under the general direction of the nursing staff or therapist to meet

patient mobilization demands in acute patient setting.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with the repositioning, lifting, transferring and ambulation of patients.
  • Supports and encourages improved activity levels for patients as medically indicated
  • Utilizes patient handling equipment that assists in the repositioning, lifting, transferring and ambulation of patients.
  • Documents activity, level of assistance, and distance for each patient intervention.
  • Direct patient care includes but not limited to mobilizing, ambulating or positioning as directed by nursing or therapist staff
  • Provides patient handling assistance to support and function as part of the patient care team
  • Ensures a safe and secure environment through interventions and routine observations
  • Works collaboratively with the team in a supportive role and may include answering phones, call lights, and runner activities
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
  • Completes duties as otherwise assigned within job parameters

Qualifications:
Education/Training

High school diploma or GED required. Patient care experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification

Must complete and be certified in:
BLS/HealthCare Provider certification by the American Heart Association - renewed every two years.

Experience

Preferred experience in a patient care setting or a customer service role.
