LEARN is an innovative network of tuition-free, high performing college preparatory public elementary schools that was selected by local parents to open a new DC Campus adjacent to Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB) in the Ward 8 community.

LEARN Charter School Network (LEARN) opened its doors as a charter school in 2001 with the mission to provide children with the academic foundation and ambition to earn a college degree. Our 20 year commitment to providing underserved communities with a high-quality, college prep elementary education is unwavering. LEARN currently serves 4,100 students (88% of which are low-income and 98% minority) across 11 campuses with 10 in Illinois and 1 in D.C.

    • Organizing and executing door-to-door community outreach (field marketing) to promote our school.
    • Updating a shared database through the development of strong relationships with key external partners from both the military and Anacostia communities
    • Working closely with the Network Student Recruitment Team and D.C. Principal to develop a comprehensive digital marketing and field marketing plan to recruit new students, including coordinating tours of the school, open houses, and other activities for prospective students and their parents.
    • Adhering to the enrollment process according to established policies and procedures at LEARN.
    • Supporting LEARN D.C. staff in the collection and processing of prospective student applications through the My School DC application process.
    • Working closely with AppleTree partner to create opportunities for Ward 8 and on-base families to connect.

    A description of you:

    • Able to market ideas or services to others to influence them to buy via multiple sources such as in person, in print and/or via social media connections
    • Exceptional communication skills, comfortable initiating conversations with new and known people to learn about them and encourage them to take actions towards joining LEARN.
    • The ability to communicate and work effectively with children, families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds
    • Intimate knowledge of the Washington, D.C. region with proven networks and connections to resources particularly in the wards in closer proximity to the school.
    • Understanding of the military community and/or a strong desire to support this community
    • Understanding of the charter sector and a passion for education choice
    • Ability to work independently with very minimal administrative oversight and support
    • Professional demeanor and ability to hold information in strict confidence
    • Detail oriented and highly organized
    • High degree of initiative and independent judgment
    • Working knowledge of using MS Office or Google applications to develop, track and report on recruitment and placement activities to Network teams.

    Expected Accomplishments:

    • Meet student enrollment goals to fuel growth of the school
    • Provide support for LEARN DC staff recruitment efforts
    • Build strong relationships between key community leaders and LEARN DC
    • Create a high level of awareness of LEARN DC
    • Assure a strong and positive working relationship with LEARN parents
