The Director of Construction Operations is a key executive leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of our construction and process piping branches.
Reporting directly to the President, the DCO will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, optimizing efficiency, and ensuring the successful execution of projects across our multiple sectors, sites and project teams.
Key Accountabilities:
Operational Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement operational strategies and initiatives aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
Collaborate with executive leadership to define long-term operational plans and short-term objectives for sustainable growth and profitability.
Project Execution and Performance:
Oversee project execution across all divisions, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Organizational Leadership:
Develop and implement processes and plans aligned with company objectives to drive growth and profitability in the construction and piping sectors.
Operational Efficiency & Excellence:
Streamline and optimize operational processes, workflows, and procedures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality across all business segments.
Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence and competitiveness in the market.
Financial Management and Performance:
Oversee financial management activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, to achieve targeted financial performance and profitability.
Monitor key financial metrics, analyze performance trends, and implement strategies to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders in the construction and process piping industries.
Ensure client satisfaction by providing exceptional service, addressing concerns proactively, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices across all operational activities.
Champion a culture of safety, promoting awareness, training, and adherence to safety protocols to minimize workplace incidents and ensure the well-being of employees.
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide effective leadership and mentorship to department heads and operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Identify talent gaps, develop succession plans, and invest in training and development programs to build a skilled and motivated workforce.
Strategic Partnerships and Business Development:
Identify strategic partnerships, and business opportunities to expand market presence, diversify service offerings, and drive revenue growth in target markets.

Mentoring and coaching employees to foster professional growth and development.
Identifying and assessing risks and opportunities across the organization.
Identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships and alliances.
Developing and executing business development strategies to expand market presence.
Leading organizational change initiatives and managing transitions effectively.
Identifying innovative solutions and emerging technologies to enhance business operations.
Requirements and Preferred Experience:
United States Citizenship
8-10 years of recent heavy civil and industrial construction experience
Construction experience in manufacturing, municipal, development and oil & gas sectors preferred.
Proficient in construction financials and accounting, including WIP
Experience with construction contracts and delivery methods; including design-build, negotiated, alternative project delivery and time & material work.
Construction Management or similar degree is preferred.
Strong people and process leadership skills.
Solutions mindset.
Personable at all levels of staff, exhibiting excellent communication across the organization.
Team Builder
Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, traverse construction jobsite terrain, climb ladders, stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch in all weather conditions; see, listen, talk and hear effectively.
Extended hours may be required in this leadership position.
Must have a valid Kansas driver's license or obtain one within 10 days of securing residency in the State of Kansas.
