- Work with a small team of DBAs in supporting and optimizing Workiva's database infrastructure
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
- Develop and implement best practices for databases, including infrastructure, usage patterns, and support, ensuring a high performing and reliable platform
- Escalate and address performance bottlenecks, focusing on optimizing critical system components.
- Provide L3 support to Site Reliability Engineering and Software Support Engineering teams for production issues related to databases
- Drive the ongoing projects collaborating with infrastructure engineering and product teams
- Provide guidance to engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Contribute to database-centric initiatives, such as refactoring some of Workiva's critical backend services from MySQL to PostgreSQL
- 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Strong Proficiency in PostgreSQL to support application needs within the Workiva ecosystem
- Proficiency in MySQL administration
- Proficiency in AWS Cloud, including Aurora RDS
- Experience working with open-source database technologies
- Previous experience with database upgrades and migrations
- Familiarity with performance monitoring and tuning tools
- Strong scripting and automation experience
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with engineering teams
- Proven ability to lead small teams and drive best practices in a collaborative environment
- Strong team communication skills to foster collaboration and teamwork
- Proven ability to support all engineering efforts across the organization
