    JOB TITLE: Preschool Principal

    DEPARTMENT:Operations

    REPORTS TO: Executive Director FLSA STATUS:Exempt

    LOCATION: School as Assigned WORK STATUS: Full-time

    SUMMARY:

    Leads the school administration team and has responsibility for the delivery of the instructional program and overall operation of the school including marketing plan implementation, student enrollment, parent and community relations, staff supervision and development, profit and loss management, and facility management.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Educational Program:

    • Provides and maintains quality educational programs and ensures successful implementation of approved Spring Education Curriculum (i.e. Links2Learning).
    • Participates in the establishment and achievement of quality standards as articulated in the Links to Learning Curriculum Materials.
    • Evaluates the work performance, writes observations, and provides ongoing feedback to all teaching staff according to SEG procedures.
    • Provides teaching staff access to professional development according to SEG practices.
    • Counsels and provides guidance to students regarding personal, academic, and behavioral issues.
    • Reviews lesson plans and provides approval or comments on a timely basis.
    • Ensures a safe, clean, attractive school and classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Leads the accreditation process of the school as required.

    Leadership:

    • Creates a vision for the school and positively influences all constituents to work toward and meet the vision.
    • Maintains compliance with accreditation and state licensing requirements as well as all applicable state and federal laws, and SEG internal policies and procedures.
    • Reviews and implements recommendations from Parent Assessment Reviews (PAR).
    • Builds effective relationships with other administrators, corporate and office staff.
    • Effectively delegates assignments and provides staff with opportunities for career growth.
    • Continually demonstrates and models professionalism in word, behavior, attire, composure, and knowledge.
      • Fulfills professional responsibility of serving on various boards or committees as needed.
      • Maintains a high degree of personal professional development through course work, workshops, and conferences.
      • Demonstrates high degree of integrity and honesty, including but not limited to confidentiality of company, student, family, and employee information as required by both company policy and federal and state laws.

    Profit & Expense Control:

    • Manages school to achieve or exceed planned financial and enrollment targets.
    • Operates within budget and demonstrates proficiency in the budgeting process.
    • Effectively forecasts weekly, monthly, and quarterly projections as compared to budget.
    • Effectively manages receivables, including bad debt.
    • Regularly (weekly, monthly, quarterly) keeps expenses in line with revenue.
    • Fully utilizes the financial / business management system (Netsuite) including maintaining accurate records and submitting weekly reports on a timely basis and ensuring financial integrity in all business dealings.
    • Obtains and incorporates feedback on what he/she can do better to help the school, the individual and SEG achieve the objective of profitable/educational excellence.

    Staff Management:

    • Recruits qualified staff to assist in development and implementation of SEG curriculum.
    • Leads and supervises non-exempt level staff including teachers, teacher assistants, substitutes, and support staff (drivers, cooks, janitors, etc.), and ensures their compliance with all SEG policies and procedures as well as state and local requirements.
    • Provides orientation for all new employees; provides opportunities for staff to engage in team interaction to build rapport and increase staff morale.
    • Utilizes Taleo, Fastrax, and Dayforce in the hiring process of employees such as securing offer-related documents, submitting background checks, and completing all necessary onboarding documents.
    • Provides appropriate staff development and in-service as needed in conjunction with both the Education and Operations Departments.
    • Trains and develops teachers and other key staff members.
    • Retains the best staff by providing clear expectations and acknowledging individual contributions.
    • Maintains appropriate staffing levels by recruiting staff for current as well as for future needs.
    • Demonstrates the importance of feedback, documentation and informal development discussions which supplement the annual performance review. Provides corrective action when necessary, in a timely manner.
    • Manages external vendors to ensure compliance with SEG policies, procedures, and standards. (i.e., dance, karate).

    Marketing:

    • Uses local grassroots marketing strategies to generate and retain enrollment.
    • Maintains and updates school website with accurate school information.
    • Maintains proactive and positive relationships with parents and prospective parents, licensing representatives, credentialing bodies, etc.
    • Demonstrates and uses knowledge of community demographics to market continually and creatively.
    • Capitalizes on local opportunities to establish positive SEG presence in the community through grassroots marketing (i.e., parades, fairs, local vendor markets).
    • Effectively utilizes Links2Home for parent communications and alerts.
    • Works in conjunction with the Admissions team to ensure that all inquiries are answered timely and appropriately.

    Ancillary Programs:

    • Assists in the planning, implementation, and operation of successful and creative programs, where applicable, such as the before and after school programs, summer programs including Camp Zone, specialty camps, and all other local and national enrichment / ancillary programs.

    Professional Development:

    • Attends annual Principal Conference as well as local or regional training and development sessions as required.
    • Work in conjunction with the Education Team on providing in-service trainings.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

    Education & Credentials:

    • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred.
    • Minimum of three years experience in education administration or business administration.
    • Minimum of one-year teaching experience required; three years teaching experience preferred. May substitute experience with an educational services company for teaching experience.
    • Meets minimum education and experience requirements to comply with applicable state regulation and accrediting boards, including holding any State required Director certifications.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of principles, techniques, goals, and objectives of early childhood education.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency with technology and commitment to the unique role it plays in education.
    • Possesses basic math skills.
    • Sales and/or marketing experience preferred.
