- Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment.
- Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
- Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required.
- Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals.
- Operate head or body scanners to create a computer generated cross-sectional image of a patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
- Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas.
- May perform obstetric and gynecological scans, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, and radiation therapy localization.
- Prepares patient and equipment for mammography procedure.
- Positions patient throughout the procedures, adjusting immobilization devices for proper compression.
- Performs radiologic mammography exams, including screenings and diagnostic studies, and analysis.
- May participate in the performance of advanced mammography procedures such as stereostatic biopsies, clip placements, drainages.
- Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used for diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies.
- Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality scans.
- Modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure.
- Start IVs and/or catheters effectively and consistently for the MRI process.
- Prepare, administer and monitor IV contrast and/or patient sedation and patient status.
- Ensure completion of screenings for pacemakers and other patient status affecting qualification for MRI.
- Performs radiographic procedures using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment.
- Responsible for appropriate set up of the xray room and manipulation of equipment, and proper placement of patient for procedure.
- Ensure proper image capture of skeletal structure request for diagnosis and treatment purposes.
- Process and develops exposed xray film and creates xray CD copies for review and interpretation.
- Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological and anatomic data.
- Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes.
- Utilizes transabdominal technology to monitor patient or fetus health, detect or monitor tumors/cysts and diagnose cardiovascular conditions.
- May assist with vascular ultrasound procedures and ultrasound guided biopsies and other guided procedures.
- Performs nuclear medicine procedures, demonstrating competence in performing invasive/interventional procedures.
- Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments.
- Operates imaging equipment and technology to track and record radiation with the patient's body, and prepares image reports.
- Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measures.
- Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical safe receipt, administration, storage, usage and disposal for regulatory compliance.
- Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
- Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service.

Overview
The Radiology Technologist Per Diem performs imaging procedures and provides basic patient care, explains standard procedures, answers patient questions, prepares and maintains equipment, transports patients, and prepares and maintains documentation.
This is a non-budgeted position with a minimum hours requirement of 80 hours per 8 week schedule with at least 48 hours worked on the weekend and/or on night shift, unless the only need is on day shift.
Holiday, Float, Call and Low Census requirements are as specified in the NAH Imaging Department Per Diem Pool Agreement.Per Diem positions include:
