Duties:

Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of day-to-day operation of the JB-MDL Fitness Center. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere Fitness Center policy.

Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities and provides information on scheduled events and classes.

Provides assistance and basic instruction to patrons in the proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transactions. Inspects returned equipment noting damage. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with written guidelines. Maintains and prepares Fitness Center facilities, grounds, and equipment for daily use, programs, and special functions. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo a preemployment physical examination as he/she must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to I 00 pounds with assistance.
  • The incumbent must possess a current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and first aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age.

Qualifications:


  • Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference
    Qualifying Experience:

Must have responsible experience in clerical, office, cash handling or retail sales store work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position.

Must be able to read, speak. and write English and communicate effectively with patrons. Must possess skills in dealing with the public. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.


Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.


FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S.

education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
