- Resolve operational issues in the field by providing on-site technical support to PSAPs, coordinating with the Network Operations Center, and escalating issues when necessary.
- Offer on-call coverage during weekday nights and all day on weekends.
- Conduct on-site preventive maintenance tasks for workstations, servers, and equipment as scheduled, including cleaning, inspections, and repairs.
- Assist in deploying new customer sites as well as relocation and changes of existing PSAPs within the Next Generation 911 system.
- Updating work status in a web-based ticketing system
- Managing inventory and spare equipment stock
- Participating in special projects as needed
- Associate degree in a technical field (networking, IT, workstations), or equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, or work experience
- 3-5 years of experience in installing, configuring, and testing IP networking equipment and systems
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, server virtualization, Cisco routing/switching preferred
- Work is mainly carried out at customer sites, requiring adherence to safety protocols
- Physical exertion may be needed for handling materials, boxes, or equipment
- Occasional overtime may be necessary to support on-call duties or business requirements
- Personal vehicle is required; mileage expenses are reimbursed based on IRS rates

Your Job Opportunity:
The Next Generation (NG) 911 team in South Carolina is looking for a skilled Field Technician (level IV) to provide technical support to Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) in the state.
The responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining, and servicing communication systems, equipment, servers, workstations, and associated electronics at PSAPs in South Carolina.
This role involves working remotely from home and client sites.
You will be reporting to a Field Services manager at Comtech.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Additional Responsibilities:
* - Coordinating with subcontractors
* - Participating in construction meetings with contractors and customer representatives
* - Developing Statements of Work and Basis of Estimate for deployment and relocation tasks
* - Acting as the technical lead on-site, supervising subcontractors during PSAP site deployments/moves
* - Installing, configuring, and testing electronic equipment following established checklists and procedures
* - Providing project status updates to management and the customer
