JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

Surgical:
Colo-rectal, vascular, GYN oncology, surgical oncology (whipples), urology (cysto, TURPs), plastics (skin flaps)

Medical:
wounds from surgeries, amputations, COVID, diabetic ulcers, diabetic (with insulin gtt)

BLS
Skills required
Surgical postop experience, PCA/epidurals, wound dressing care, wound vacs, IV skills, drain/tube management, foley management, ostomy care, NTG placement/management, small bore placement/management, cardiac rhythm interpretation (need to confirm strips-if unable to will assist)

Titration of medication:
heparin, insulin, ketamine, Lasix, protonix, Cardizem

AAH adheres to a fatigue policy where all staff, including travelers, cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12 hour shifts

Must document pain level, before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications - The pain score must also meet the pain score with nth medication order i.e.

if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give the Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3.

The RN must call for an order if the patient wants Tylenol for the score of 8.
