- Communication- Clearly and concisely convey case information to clients. Draft communications and pleadings utilizing proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to discuss status of case and upcoming deadlines with the handling attorney.
- Client Support- Interact with clients in a professional, respectful, and timely manner. Assist clients in gathering documents and witnesses for their case file. Keep clients informed of any upcoming hearings, depositions, or mediation. This includes providing the location or log-in information for clients to attend, scheduling prep time, confirming the day before the event.
- Litigation Scheduling- Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and case meetings, secure court reporters, and provide information to clients. Support attorneys with hearing preparation, exhibits, notices, and subpoenas. Become the firm's "litigation scheduling expert" by mastering local rules and judge preferences in various jurisdictions. Confirm pre and post appearance that attorney and all participants are prepared.
- Legal Support- Draft, review, and finalize legal correspondence and post-hearing orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to style guidelines. Create and track tasks, monitor court filings, attend litigation meetings, manage deadlines, and prepare materials for court and mediation.
- Docket Monitoring- Must be able to e-file and monitor docket for filings, to make sure the litigation schedule is on track.
- Calm- Excellent communication skills; treats all with respect and professionalism and does not frustrate easily.
- Tenacity- Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives; Anticipates the needs of both clients and Attorneys; Works on projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
- Accountability- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in all communication; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality and attention to detail.
- Solutions-focused- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisions; Tech savvy.
- 3-5 years in a legal, paralegal, intake, human resources, or hospitality environment.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
