    The Control Systems Branch within the AFRL Aerospace Systems Directorate, seeks to fill a general engineer, DR-02/03, position at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to serve as a Science and Technology Manager in the Control Systems Branch.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Conceives, plans, and leads programs to research, develop, demonstrate, and test autonomous control technologies for unmanned aircraft.
    • Applies systems engineering and program management knowledge and experience to manage technology development and demonstration programs.
    • Leads teams of government and contractor engineers and scientists to accomplish program objectives.
    • Manages and advocates for resources required to achieve mission goals.
    • Ensures alignment of technical efforts with Directorate and higher-level S&T strategic priorities.
    • Represents the team, the organization, and the technology to a wide variety of stakeholders.
    • Develops and leads cross-organization coalitions to advance technology transition.

    Required Qualifications
    • United States Citizenship
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
    • A degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
    • OR a combination of education and experiencecollege-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

    • Experience leading diverse technical teams to achieve organizational goals
