    Mission

    Fork Union Military Academy's Mission is to educate, develop, and inspire young men in a college preparatory, Christian, military structured environment. Cadets build character and learn leadership, independence, responsibility and discipline in a setting that encourages mental, physical, and spiritual growth. In this mission, our staff members are at the heart of our Academy environment.


    Description

    Team members shall be willing to adhere to, encourage, and inspire Cadets to embrace the Academy's mission and core values; as well as encourage such behavior with their team members. Cadet safety and quality of environment is our top priority. Our housekeeping staff is a crucial element on campus. We are looking for motivated individuals whom are willing to assist us in offering our Cadets an outstanding service.


    Essential Job Functions

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None

    General Duties/Responsibilities

    • Inspects the building, grounds and equipment for deficiencies.
    • Handles necessary repairs and maintenance through work orders.
    • Installs equipment and appliances.
    • Complies with all company safety regulations.
    • Reports any issues to the maintenance supervisor
    • Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
    • Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles as needed.
    • Follows written and verbal instructions from the maintenance supervisor.
    • Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.
    • Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools and plumbing tools.
    • Assists the maintenance team with storm clean-up around campus.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Expected hours of scheduling should remain flexible. Daily shifts run from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday-Friday
    • Hours of work may be conditionally flexible during seasonal events, or as directed by the Academy's needs
    • Must be able to communicate verbally with managers and supervisors
    • Must successfully pass a background check and participate in random drug testing

    Education and Experience:

    • Prior maintenance experience preferred
    • Fork Union Military Academy is a veteran friendly employer

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to climb up to five flights of stairs as necessary
    • Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 60 pounds as needed
    • Ability to sit, stand, twist, kneel, or squat as needed.
    • Ability to raise arms over head to perform duties
    • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or working on a project as deemed necessary
