Group Leaders are vital to the success of COA programs.
They work directly with our pre-teen's - running activities, teaching life skills, and having fun It can be a demanding job, but it will always be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.
They will learn from you, but you will also learn from them.The programs serve youth ages 5 to 12 Monday through Friday from approximately 1:45 to 6:00 p.m. This is a part-time (up to 25 hours per week) position and is not eligible for benefits. Pre-hire fingerprint background check and references required.
Main Job Responsibilities
Lead activities and groups; actively engage with youth at all times.
Develop creative and innovative daily/weekly lessons plans.
Organize space and supplies. Maintain clean and safe program areas.
Accurately record activity attendance promptly at beginning of each activity.
Submit attendance daily to designated staff responsible for data.
Qualifications
Must meet requirements for Lead Teacher per DCF 251. (Education Plan is optional.)
Experience running a structured activity for youth/pre-teens.
Must commit to getting a Registry certificate within 6 months, being trained on CPR/First Aid within 3 months, and submitting proof of a physical examination completed not more than 12 months prior to nor more than 30 days after hire.
Must be computer literate:
able to use Word to create, edit and format documents and flyers as well as Excel to enter in and manipulate data
Flexibility to work in different program areas and age groups - is a team player
Patience, positive attitude, and cultural competency
The physical requirements for the positon are the ability to: sit, stand, and bend for long periods of time and actively engage with children in various activities (e.g., physical movement, dramatic play, on-the-floor play, etc.)
