- Appear in Court for family law matters the firm is handling
- Accurately advise clients on case outcomes
- Conduct intakes, consultations, and represent clients in legal proceedings
- Prepare necessary legal documentation and trial binders
- Assist in various family law procedures and research for trials
- Build rapport with court personnel and other legal professionals
- Contribute to marketing efforts and networking events for the firm
- Bachelor's degree
- JD from an ABA Accredited School
- Member of NC State Bar
- Minimum 1-2 years of litigation experience
- Reliable transportation
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Experience with e-filing (preferred)
- Confident and professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
- Good communication and networking skills

The Family Law Associate Attorney is a vital part of our team, assisting the Family Law Partner in various legal aspects including court representation, intakes, motions, and more. As a Family Law Associate, you'll need a strong grasp of Family Law statutes, local regulations, and civil procedures.
Communicating with clients daily, you'll work closely with our paralegal to gather crucial information, prepare court filings, develop trial strategies, and offer valuable advice. It's essential to handle client-sensitive data with the utmost professionalism and discretion.
From client consultations to courtroom representation, the role demands confidence and proficiency. As part of your responsibilities, you'll travel to different counties, liaise with court personnel, and possibly delve into areas like Estate Planning.
At Matheson & Associates PLLC, you'll also engage in marketing initiatives, providing legal insights at events and contributing to the growth of our Family Law Department.
