Overview:

PACE Supply is seeking a Project Manager Trainee to join our Waterworks Division out of our Oakland, CA location.

As a Project Manager Trainee, you will be immersed in the coordination of overall safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of Waterworks construction projects from initial budget through project closeout.

Your role involves managing product delivery schedules, resolving daily challenges, and ensuring adherence to plans and specifications for top-notch quality.

You will assist commercial clients in product purchases based on bid submittals, addressing their queries, and catering to information needs related to project products.

Your collaboration with vendors and manufacturers is crucial to ensure timely product availability and delivery, acting as a bridge between customers and vendors to swiftly resolve any arising issues.

Your primary goal in this role is to train and grow into a proficient Project Manager. Through this training, you will integrate into a high-performing project management team, prioritizing exceptional customer satisfaction for our partners.

Your focus will be on maintaining seamless communication with both internal and external customers via consistent processes, ensuring unparalleled service.

Emphasizing creative problem-solving within the framework of PACE Supply's strategic goals will be a key aspect of your development.


Responsibilities:


  • Participate in project kickoff meetings, gaining exposure to project initiation.
  • Process sales orders and create vendor purchase orders under supervision.
  • Assist in scheduling deliveries and identifying project products from plans/specs.
  • Collaborate with estimators to learn accurate project planning techniques.
  • Address initial customer issues with guidance and maintain project folders as part of training.
  • Shadow experienced colleagues to secure pricing and protections from vendors/reps.
  • Observe and assist in requesting job quotes and exploring product alternatives.
  • Gain insights into managing upcoming price changes and understanding lead times.
  • Assist branch personnel under supervision as a part of the learning process.
  • Support ongoing projects by observing and learning from Project Managers.
  • Gain exposure to ensuring customer satisfaction by observing collaboration with Account Managers.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience in Plumbing Sales, ideally in Waterworks, or 1 year experience in Project Management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
  • Experience in sales or business development.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multitask.
  • Ability to flourish with mínimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly. This includes carrying, dragging, and walking with materials, as well as using a handtruck.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
