    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A Washington State Administrative Certificate, with a Master's Degree in Education.
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English
    • A thorough understanding of dual language and best practices in language development.
    • An academic background and experience in staff supervision and staff development.
    • An in-depth understanding of learning theory and effective instructional strategies for English Language Learners.
    • A thorough understanding of elementary curriculum, standards and language development.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to share and focus staff toward accomplishing long and short term goals.
    • A demonstrated ability to work well with people from a variety of backgrounds.
    • A demonstrated ability to provide energetic, positive and creative leadership to implement school improvement plans.
    • A strong background in reading and math curriculum and instruction.
    • The ability to provide strong leadership in a shared decision making environment.
    • The ability to use assessment data to evaluate school programs and pupil progress toward education standards through a multilingual lens.
    • The ability to communicate effectively to a diverse audience.
    • Provide positive high profile leadership for the school and community.
    • A demonstrated ability to help teachers improve instructional strategies.
    • The ability to analyze state, district and classroom assessment data to improve instruction.
    • Training and or experience in Response to Intervention program development and implementation with a particular focus on language interventions.
    • The ability to monitor, assist, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment practices.
    • Ability to provide for the physical and emotional safety of students and staff.
    • Ability to create a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for students and staff.
    • Knowledge of state and federal program requirements and regulations

    SALARY RANGE:
    Elementary - $139,312 - $151,870
    (Based on salary schedule)

    Kennewick School District enrolls 18,000 students served by a staff of approximately 2,000.

    There are 15 elementary schools (K-5), 4 middle schools (6-8), a vocational skills center and 3 high schools plus three non-traditional high schools.

    The Kennewick School District has a strong emphasis on quality reading, writing and math instruction. The strategic plan includes a goal of 90% of our third graders to be reading on grade level. Each building principal has the responsibility of guiding their building toward student learning and assessment.

    Lifting:
    The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

    Physical Hazards:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +.

    The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.

    Application Procedure:
    In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date.

    In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system.

    The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying.

    After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position.

    In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee.

    If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any.

    Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.

    Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted.

    All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
