    PLEASE NOTE:
    This is a TOSA position, and it will be hired per the process outlined on page 12 of the KEA Collective Bargaining Agreement

    Qualifications Required: 1. Washington State Teacher's Certificate appropriate for middle school2. Endorsement in K-83. Satisfactory evaluations4. Evidence of successful experience collaborating with staff to meet the varied needs of students in an MTSS system.5.

    Experience collecting and analyzing assessment data for behavior and academic intervention programs and implementation of instruction to meet identified needs.6.

    Experience facilitating grade level data meetings.7.

    Experience in and/or knowledge of how to assist teachers with the development of Tier 1 and Tier 2 MTSS interventions to improve student/classroom behavior and learning.


    Qualifications Preferred:
    1. Successful experience working with Multilingual Learners (MLs) as well as students with special needs.2. Evidence of positively working with team members, classroom teachers, paraeducators, and all other school staff.3. Demonstrated taking initiative and working collaboratively with others.4. Experience with intervention curriculum and instructional strategies.5. Experience with small group instruction.6. Evidence of successful experience of planning for and implementation of k-8 classroom instruction.7. Ability to supervise, train and evaluate paraeducators in program curricula, instructional strategies, and small group classroom management.8. Evidence of recent successful experience working with at-risk students including multi-language learners, migrant students and children in poverty.9. Willingness to participate in parent and instructional meetings beyond the normal school day.10.

    Experience in administering district and statewide assessments - including but not limited to MAP, Star Math and/or Reading, WIDA, and SBA.11.

    Working knowledge of PowerSchool, Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.12. Punctual and consistent attendance.13. Able to work with interruptions while balancing daily responsibilities.14. Successful experience working with students who need additional MTSS support.15. Experience assisting teachers with the development of lesson plans to improve student achievement.16. Ability to communicate well with students, staff and parents.17. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels. 18. Enthusiastic and displays an overall optimism toward teaching and student learning.19. Flexible in learning new concepts, cooperates with others, and adapts to a variety of assignments and conditions.20.

    Current building leader and lead contributor to building instructional initiatives (for example:
    Team Leader, GLAD model teacher, LMS lead, ATP chair staff presenter)21. Provide information about student language development on IEP teams.

    Support school psychologists with information about student language development (for example:
    ML student report card, ML student portrait, etc.)22. Experience in co-teaching, co-planning, and/or peer coaching23. Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching strategies for creating a language-rich, rigorous classroom environment.24. Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to support and enhance instruction and learning.25.

    Knowledge with planning and delivering instruction around various forms of data:
    academic, behavior, demographic, and attendance.26. Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).


    Job Description:
    1. Provide supplementary instructional support to at-risk students (academic and behavior)2. Establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with all staff members.3. In partnership with grade teams and administration identify students who will be served under LAP identification and update regularly.4. Work with classroom teachers and intervention teams to place students in behavioral and academic intervention groups.5.

    Provide an effective program of instruction in accordance with curriculum and consistent with physical limitations of the location provided and needs and capabilities of individual or student groups involved.6.

    Support staff and students with district and state assessment.7. Assist in the selection of supplemental instructional and intervention materials with the approval of the building Principal.8. Attend district trainings pertaining to the assessment and provide corresponding training to all staff, as applicable9. Maintain all records according to specified timelines and LAP program requirements.10.

    As an active member of the Tier I and Tier II Intervention team, review and analyze PBIS/MTSS data to further develop interventions to support students centered around behavior, academics, and attendance.11.

    Intervene in potential conflicts utilizing restorative practices for the purpose of diffusing confrontations, minimizing disruptions, and promoting student success.12. Support teachers in the implementation of successful student interventions plans.13. Encourage parent involvement, participate in parent/teacher conferences, and create and maintain good relationships with parents.14. Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings as scheduled.15. Perform other duties as assigned.16. Assist staff with developing lessons based on the standards to support teachers working within an MTSS model.17.

    Guide teachers in the use of assessment to guide instruction:
    universal, formative, summative, required state assessments.18. Conduct whole staff professional development activities focused on MTSS, along with follow up modeling and support19. Participate in the school improvement process (plan-do-study-act) with the building administrator20.

    Work with individual or small groups of teachers to develop practices in planning to standards, looking at student data, designing instruction.

    21. Provide MTSS strategies and resources for teachers in all content areas22. Support teachers in working with adopted curriculum and incorporating language development within content.

    Lifting:
    The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

    Physical Hazards:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +.

    The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.


    Application Procedure:
    In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date.

    In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system.

    The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying.

    After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position.

    In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee.

    If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any.

    Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
