Description
Prioritized Must Have Skills for the House Parent:
#1. Must be 21 or over
#2. A high school diploma or equivalent
#3. House parent couples must be married for at least two years
#4. House parent couples can have up to two children of dependent age
#5. Single house parents cannot have children of dependent age
Responsibilities of the House Parent:
Live in your assigned cottage, helping to care for and provide for up to eight children.
Teach and lead cottage rules and daily routines.
Provide encouragement, guidance, and counseling to residents.
Participate in educational and recreational activities with the youth.
Ensure that all childrens physical needs (food, shelter, etc.) are met.
Help children build self-esteem and gain skills to overcome difficult situations.
Act as a positive role model to youth by demonstrating appropriate behaviours and attitudes towards others.
