This position is located at the Department of Mental Health- Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 164 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526.
FOR MHP POSTINGS
This position MAY be eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.
Under direct supervision, provides mental health services requiring specialized diagnostic and treatment intervention skills include individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention and approved services.
All mental health services are provided as a specialist for outpatient services for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health.
This position reports to clinic director and program manager.
Employee will be evaluated annually with Department Mental Health Employee Performance Management System review system.
Provides therapy, emergency services and case management services to persons experiencing emotional disturbances, to include assessments, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education and home visits as needed.
The expectation is that the employee will provide counseling services to clients of the WCMH on a full-time basis (37.5 hrs./week), maintaining an average bill time of direct service hours to 810 annualized hours.
Maintain documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF Standards.
Provides a variety of coordination and consultation services with the school, community agencies, and DMH staff. Educates the community through workshops and presentations in regard to mental health issues.
Thorough knowledge of the range and scope of services provided in a comprehensive mental health program service adults, children and families and the unique treatment needs of this specialist population.
Ability to integrate and coordinate services with those of other disciplines and to community effectively.
The employee will be able to perform case management, interviewing and assessment skills.
Will participate in on-going in-service training and other educational opportunities in order to maintain and/or acquire necessary skills.
Expertise in handling a challenging caseload practicing interpersonal sensitivity.
Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
STATE REQUIREMENTS: A master's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: A master's degree in guidance, counseling or social sciences.
Applicants must be able to meet DMH credentialing requirements.
Required graduate coursework, under DMH credentialing requirements includes:
Psychopathology Course
Psychopathology Diagnostic Course
Clinical Assessment - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) - or other related assessment courses
Ethics Course - related to medical profession.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED: License preferred but not required.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or other language) are a plus.
Prior experience in working with children, adults and their families is a plus.
