    This position is located at the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health (WCMH) - South Strand Clinic, 9630 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588

    This position MAY be eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

    Under limited supervision, you will provide advanced therapeutic services, particularly as a specialist for the Adult and Child/Adolescent outpatient services of the South Strand Satellite Office for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Provides counseling and case management dealing with situations encompassing interpersonal, health and psychosocial factors.

    Responsibilities of the Mental Health Professional I include but are not limited to:
    • Provides therapy, emergency services and case management services to persons experiencing emotional disturbances, to include assessments, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education. The expectation is that the employee will provide counseling services to clients
      of the WCMH on a full-time basis (37.5 hours/week), maintaining an average bill time of 67.5 monthly direct service hours or 810 annualized hours.
    • Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.
    • Provides a variety of coordination and consultation services with the school, community agencies, and DMH staff. Educates the community through workshops and presentations in regard to children and mental health issues.
    • Provides after hours emergency services as directed by the Clinic Director.
    • Performs semi-routine or diversified counseling and case management functions for individuals with behavioral and/or emotions mental health issues.
    • Assists in developing and implementing treatment plans.
    • Guides clients in the development of skills or strategies towards achieving and maintain good mental health.
    • Sound theoretical knowledge and principles, methods, counseling practices and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders. Ability to listen and understand, effectively communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
    • Some knowledge of psychopatholgy and patient management within a psychiatric setting. Some knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies.
    • Position requires standing, sitting, walking and bending.
    Minimum and Additional Requirements

    State Minimum Requirements:
    A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field. Must meet DMH Credentialing Requirements.

    Must show graduate coursework completion, including the following courses:

    Psychopathology
    Psychopathology Diagnostic
    Ethic Coursework related to medical profession
    Clinical Assessment - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) or any related assessment course

    To ensure that all Mental Health Professional candidates meet quality of care standards, all Mental Health Professional candidates must show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship, or post-graduate clinical experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Licensed preferred but not required.

    Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

    Additional Comments

    Some travel may be required. Any required travel for work will require use of state vehicle.

    Must have clean driving record and submit a copy of the 10 Year Driving Record from Department of Motor Vehicles.
