The Human Resources Coordinator completes clerical duties for the organization's human resources department.

This is a great beginner-level role for someone interested in gaining experience in a wide scope of Human Resources skills.

The HR Coordinator assists the Director of Human Resources with a variety of projects in addition to administering benefits, maintaining physical and digital files, and conducting onboarding activities.

This is a full-time, in person position working out of our Fairfax, VA office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, including maintenance of paperwork and employment records and scheduling interviews.
  • Assist with administering benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), and Flex Savings Accounts.
  • Serve as the point of contact to guide employees through various Human Resources processes, such as onboarding, benefit enrollment, and benefit account access.
  • Assist in designing and implementing a comprehensive onboarding program that ensures new employees receive a warm welcome, understand company policies, and quickly integrate into their roles.
  • Conduct and present research on various HRrelated topics at the request of the Director of Human Resources.
  • Ensure all Human Resources functions comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, FLSA, ADA, and COBRA.
  • Gain proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now, including managing employee records, administering benefits, and time tracking. Continuously explore ways to optimize system utilization, streamline processes, and enhance data accuracy within Workforce Now.
  • Conduct highlevel resume screening and assist with assessments of interdepartmental hiring needs. Contact references and perform background checks on applicants.
  • Handle employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in an HRrelated role is advantageous but not required.
  • HR certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or HRCI, are a bonus but are not mandatory.
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail and excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of key HR processes and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research and stay informed about current HR trends, legal updates, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using online resources and databases to gather relevant information.
