Come spend your summer with Camp Ganim A summer preschool program for children ages 2-5 years old.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced garden assistant to join our team in an energetic, warm, and engaging environment.

We are currently hiring a garden assistant to begin on May 31, 2024 for half-days (8:30 am - 1:30 pm) through the summer (August 9) working in outdoor garden spaces.

Additional hours may be available, and opportunities may be available for the following school year.


Every summer employee who joins our team receives a FREE Weinstein JCC Fitness and Aquatics Membership for the summer valued up to $160.00


The Weinstein JCC Preschool's Summer Program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach (child centered) with a strong focus on Nature Education.

We promote inclusive settings for children with differing abilities. Our program is fully accredited by NAEYC and licensed by the state of Virginia.

Our beautiful playgrounds are nationally certified by Nature Explore as outdoor, nature-based classrooms that deepen children's connection with the natural world.

We have a strong focus on connecting young children to the natural world through our interactive gardens.


This person will assist in planning and implementing activities and garden curriculum development that encourages opportunities for observing, exploring, questioning, discovering, growing, and learning.


Your strengths and experience should include but not be limited to:

  • Minimum of one year of college level education.
  • Experience working with preschool children in a group setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in gardening.
  • Able to plan and implement garden activities that are age appropriate for preschool children.
  • Able to work outdoors and tolerate summer weather conditions.
  • Naturally focused on the process of young children interacting in the garden in order to build a deeper connection to nature.
  • Relate to and enjoy working with children in a safe, fun, caring and supportive manner.
  • Keeping up with gardening needs such as weeding, planting, mulching, etc.
  • Able to work in harmony with other staff members including Garden Specialist.

Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary


Pay:
$17.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (preferred)
